*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Arkansas Lake is a small, tranquil body of water located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, surrounded by dense forest and rocky terrain. The lake’s temperature follows the coastal climate, which is mild but influenced by the cool Pacific air. In early spring, the water remains quite cold, averaging around 43–48°F (6–9°C), as snowmelt and rainfall keep the lake refreshed. By late May and June, the temperature gradually rises to about 57–64°F (14–18°C). The warmest period is from mid-July through early September, when surface temperatures can reach 68–72°F (20–22°C), particularly in shallower areas near the shore. Once autumn arrives, cooling air quickly lowers the temperature back to 55°F (13°C) or below by October.
Swimming is allowed and generally safe in Arkansas Lake, although conditions depend on the time of year. During summer, the lake is inviting for short or leisurely swims thanks to its clean, calm waters and peaceful surroundings. However, even in summer, the deeper sections stay noticeably cool, so extended swimming can become uncomfortable. The lake is not supervised, so swimmers should take precautions and stay close to shore. The best time for swimming is from late June to early September, when the water temperature is at its most pleasant and the weather is stable.
