*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Albufeira da Barragem do Monte da Rocha (in Portuguese: Albufeira da Barragem do Monte da Rocha) is a reservoir in the Beja District of southern Portugal whose water temperature varies seasonally with the Mediterranean–continental climate of the Alentejo. Typical winter temperatures are relatively cool, approximately 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). In spring the water warms to about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as air temperatures rise and inflows decrease. Summer brings the warmest conditions, commonly around 20–27 °C (68–81 °F) at the surface in sheltered bays, while autumn sees a gradual cooling to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). These figures are approximate and can vary with depth, weather patterns and inflow rates.
Swimming opportunities exist but are conditional: recreational bathing is most comfortable and commonly attempted in the summer when surface temperatures are warmest, yet whether swimming is officially allowed depends on local management, water-use priorities and safety considerations. The reservoir is used for water supply and irrigation, so authorities may restrict access or post warnings due to water quality, fluctuating depths, submerged hazards and boat or maintenance activity. There is typically no lifeguard service, so visitors should observe posted signs, consult local municipal guidance and take standard precautions if they choose to swim.
