*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Albufeira da Barragem de Odiáxere is a freshwater reservoir in the Faro District whose surface temperatures follow the mild southern Portuguese climate. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range from about 10–14 °C (50–57 °F) in winter, rising to roughly 14–18 °C (57–64 °F) in spring. During summer the water can warm to approximately 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and in autumn it usually cools back to around 16–20 °C (61–68 °F). These values vary with depth, weather patterns and reservoir level, so localized spots may be warmer or colder depending on sunshine, inflows and wind.
Swimming at Albufeira da Barragem de Odiáxere is common informally but not always officially sanctioned. As a managed reservoir it may be subject to access restrictions to protect water quality and supply, and there are safety concerns such as steep banks, submerged structures, sudden depth changes and lack of lifeguards. Where bathing is tolerated, it is typically done at one’s own risk and only in calm, shallow areas; visitors should observe local signage and municipal rules, since authorities can prohibit swimming to prevent pollution, ensure public safety or protect infrastructure.
