*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Alamo Lake, located in western Arizona within Alamo Lake State Park, sits in a warm desert environment that gives it some of the highest water temperatures in the state during summer. In winter, surface temperatures usually range from 52 to 60°F (11–16°C), cool but generally mild compared to northern lakes. As spring arrives, the desert sun warms the water quickly, and by May temperatures often reach 70–78°F (21–26°C). During the summer months, Alamo Lake becomes very warm, with surface temperatures averaging between 84 and 90°F (29–32°C) in July and August. In autumn, the water gradually cools to around 68–75°F (20–24°C), maintaining pleasant conditions for outdoor recreation well into October before returning to winter values.
Swimming is allowed at Alamo Lake and is a common activity during the hot months, when air temperatures frequently exceed 100°F (38°C). The lake’s warm, clear water provides relief from the desert heat, and several access points and beaches along the shoreline make swimming convenient. Because it is a remote reservoir surrounded by rugged desert terrain, visitors should be cautious of fluctuating water levels and steep shoreline areas. Despite its isolation, Alamo Lake offers excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, and relaxation in a quiet natural setting.
