The River Ribble as it flows through the city of Preston, Lancashire, offers a cold, natural water experience. Its seasonal water temperature varies dramatically. Even in the height of summer, the temperature rarely exceeds 16∘C to 20∘C (61∘F to 68∘F).
Swimming in the River Ribble near Preston is generally strongly discouraged and often prohibited by local authorities.
