*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kingston upon Hull, commonly known as Hull, lies on the north bank of the Humber Estuary in eastern England, where the River Hull meets the North Sea. The area’s water temperature is strongly influenced by tidal flows and the coastal climate, remaining relatively cool throughout the year. In winter, estuarine waters usually range between 5–7 °C (41–45 °F), rising to around 9–11 °C (48–52 °F) in spring. During the summer months, the temperature can reach 15–18 °C (59–64 °F), particularly in sheltered or shallow areas of the estuary and nearby beaches. By autumn, it gradually drops again toward 10–12 °C (50–54 °F), maintaining a mild but refreshing character typical of England’s east coast.
Swimming in Hull’s immediate waters is generally not recommended due to strong tides, mudflats, and busy shipping activity in the Humber Estuary. However, outdoor swimming is popular at safer coastal locations nearby, such as Hornsea and Withernsea, where beach lifeguards operate in summer and the water quality is monitored. Wetsuits are advisable outside the warmest months. Hull’s waterfront offers scenic walks and boating views, while attractions like The Deep aquarium, the historic Old Town, and the Marina area highlight the city’s maritime heritage and connection to the surrounding waterways.
