Makariv is a small town in Kyiv Oblast located on the banks of the Zdvyzh River, a narrow and quiet tributary that winds through meadows and low hills. The Zdvyzh near Makariv is shallow and calm, with slow-moving water that warms up quickly in summer. During the warmest months, water temperatures typically reach 20–24°C, making the river pleasant for short swims and wading. The banks are mostly natural, with grassy areas and gentle slopes, providing several informal spots where locals enjoy relaxing by the water.
