Lüleburgaz lies in the Thrace plain and is crossed by tributaries of the Ergene River and a number of small irrigation ponds and reservoirs rather than large natural lakes. Water temperatures in these inland bodies follow typical continental patterns: in summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) in shallow ponds and slow rivers, in spring and autumn they are usually cooler around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F), and in winter they fall toward 0–6 °C (32–43 °F).
