** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ağrı (in Turkish - Ağrı) sits at high elevation in eastern Turkey and the lakes in and around the district are characteristically cold. Because of altitude and a continental climate, surface temperatures vary widely by season. In winter many lakes freeze or hover around 0 °C (32 °F) at the surface; during spring they typically range from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as ice melts and runoff cools the water. In the warmest months, shallow bays and sun-exposed areas can reach roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), occasionally touching about 20 °C (68 °F) on rare sunny days. By autumn temperatures usually fall back to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as cooling resumes.
Swimming opportunities are therefore limited and seasonal. Open-water swimming is technically possible in mid to late summer where local conditions allow, but the water remains cool compared with lower-altitude bathing sites, and prolonged immersion risks cold-shock or hypothermia. Many lakes are remote, windy and lack lifeguards or facilities, and some are designated wetlands or bird habitats where swimming is discouraged or restricted to protect wildlife. Visitors should check local signage and, if they choose to enter the water, take caution, limit time in cold water and prefer supervised, designated swimming areas when available.
