*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Făgăraș (Romanian: Făgăraș) is a town in central Romania with small lakes and reservoirs in its vicinity used for recreation and fishing. Water temperatures in these inland bodies of water follow a typical continental pattern: in spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), rising through early summer to roughly 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) in June–August, then cooling in autumn (September–October) to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). In winter the water approaches freezing, commonly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) at the surface. Local and short-term factors such as depth, shading, recent weather and inflow from streams can shift these values by a few degrees.
Swimming in and around Făgăraș is generally possible during the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but opportunities depend on the specific lake or reservoir. Some spots are used informally by locals, while others may have restrictions for safety, water quality, private ownership or boating activity; lifeguards are often not present. Authorities occasionally close access if tests show contamination or if strong currents, low visibility or underwater hazards pose risks. Visitors should check local signage, respect rules, and be cautious about temperature shock and variable conditions outside the summer season.
