*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Herning (in Danish - Herning) is an inland town in the Central Denmark Region surrounded by small lakes and ponds whose surface temperatures follow the typical Danish seasonal cycle. In spring (March–May) lake water commonly warms from about 3–10 °C (37–50 °F) as air temperatures rise. During summer (June–August) surface temperatures frequently reach 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), with occasional peaks above 22 °C on warm weeks. Early autumn (September–October) usually sees cooling to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). In winter (November–February) many lakes hover near freezing, often 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and some smaller lakes may form ice.
Swimming in and around Herning’s lakes is generally possible but depends on local conditions and official guidance. Municipal authorities and local bathing sites monitor water quality during the warmer months and post warnings or closures if cyanobacterial blooms or pollution occur; when quality is good and no signage prohibits it, informal lake swimming is common. There are few lifeguarded beaches, so swimmers should be cautious about depth, sudden temperature changes, underwater obstacles and cold shock. Winter or “cold” bathing is practiced by some with precautions, but it requires experience and awareness of ice safety. Always follow local signs and alerts for safe swimming.
