*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Karup Å in the Central Denmark Region typically shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature. In winter months the river commonly drops to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring sees a rise into roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as runoff and air temperatures increase. Summer temperatures are the warmest, often ranging from about 13–20 °C (55–68 °F) and occasionally reaching low 20s °C (about 72 °F) in heatwaves. During autumn the river cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). These values vary with weather, groundwater inputs and local depth; shallow, slow sections warm more in summer, while shaded or spring-fed reaches stay cooler year-round.
Swimming in Karup Å is commonly practiced in accessible stretches and is not universally prohibited, but whether it is advisable depends on local conditions. Many people swim, wade or paddle where there is public access, but swimmers should be aware of cold-water shock in cooler seasons, changing currents, submerged vegetation and variable water quality since not all river sites are monitored as bathing waters. Some areas are protected for ecology or angling and may have restrictions, so it is sensible to follow local signage and guidance before entering the water for safety and conservation reasons.
