*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Varde (Danish: Varde) in the Region of Southern Denmark is set among small lakes, streams and coastal areas where lake water temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern for southern Jutland. In spring, surface temperatures usually rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as air warms and ice, if present, melts. Peak summer conditions in July and August commonly bring lake temperatures into the 17–24 °C (63–75 °F) range, with occasional warmer spikes during heatwaves. In autumn the water cools back to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), while winter sees the coldest readings around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), sometimes approaching freezing in shallow sheltered bays.
Swimming in and around Varde’s lakes is generally allowed and practiced, especially at marked bathing spots and public access points. Local municipalities monitor and manage popular sites for safety and water quality, and restrictions may be posted if pollution, algal blooms or private property limits access. Swimmers should be aware that conditions depend on depth, wind, inflow and recent weather, and that lifeguards are not always present at inland sites. Cold-water precautions are advisable in spring and autumn, while summer offers the most comfortable and widely used period for recreational swimming.
