Swimming is specifically encouraged at Kelso Conservation Area Beach, which is managed by Conservation Halton. This designated beach on the reservoir is supervised by lifeguards during the summer season, confirming its status as a safe and controlled swimming environment. Conversely, swimming in the fast-flowing Sixteen Mile Creek is not permitted or is strongly discouraged due to safety concerns like strong currents and potential urban runoff. As with any supervised beach, the Kelso reservoir is monitored for E. coli bacteria, and visitors must adhere to any temporary water quality advisories posted by Halton Region Public Health.
