** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Târnava, a river system in central Romania (Romanian: Târnava), has water temperatures that vary strongly with the seasons because of its moderate continental climate and relatively shallow channels in many stretches. In winter the river commonly approaches near-freezing temperatures, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Spring sees a steady rise as snowmelt and rain warm the flow to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In summer the warmest sections, especially slower, shallower reaches, typically range from about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), occasionally rising a degree or two on hot, low-flow days. Autumn temperatures fall back into a cooler band near 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as air temperatures decline and flows increase.
Swimming in the Târnava is possible in many local spots, particularly during the warmest weeks of summer when temperatures are most comfortable, but it is not universally regulated or supervised. Whether bathing is allowed depends on local municipal rules and on water quality at specific locations; agricultural runoff, urban discharge and variable currents can make some stretches less suitable for recreational swimming. There are few official lifeguarded areas on the river itself, so people choose designated swimming facilities or monitored natural sites when available, exercise caution regarding depth and flow, and check recent local information about water quality before entering.
