*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Pyhäjoki River, or Pyhäjoki älv, is a waterway flowing through North Ostrobothnia and into the Bothnian Bay, known for its scenic value. Swimming is generally permitted along its accessible banks and at designated public spots, a right secured by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle ensures the public can use natural waters for recreation. However, as with all rivers, caution is advised due to currents, especially during spring floods. Designated beaches in the municipality of Pyhäjoki offer the safest and most monitored environment for bathing.
The water temperature in the Pyhäjoki River is extremely cold for much of the year, typical of Northern Finland. The river is usually frozen over during the long cold season, from approximately November to May, with the water below the ice remaining consistently near freezing, at about 0∘C to 4∘C. The only period suitable for casual summer swimming is brief, peaking in July. During this peak month, the surface water temperature in the calmer sections can warm up to a range of approximately 16∘C to 20∘C. Outside of this short window, the river’s water is too cold for comfortable bathing, attracting mainly those who practice cold-water swimming.
