*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Perhonjoki River flows through Central Ostrobothnia, originating from the lakes of Central Finland and winding toward the Gulf of Bothnia. It is a relatively narrow river with clear and cool water that reflects the changing northern climate. In spring, after the ice melts, the water remains cold at around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F). As summer progresses, the temperature rises gradually, reaching 14–17 °C (57–63 °F) in June and typically peaking at 18–21 °C (64–70 °F) in July. During heatwaves, shallow sections can momentarily warm up to 22–23 °C (72–73 °F). By autumn, the water cools below 10 °C (50 °F), and in winter the river partially freezes.
Swimming in the Perhonjoki is allowed, though it is best suited for experienced swimmers because of varying currents and water depth. In calm stretches near villages such as Perho and Veteli, locals enjoy bathing and cooling off during the warmest months. The water is clean, and the natural surroundings provide a quiet and refreshing environment. The river is also known for fishing and paddling, and during midsummer it offers pleasant opportunities for swimming in nature.
