*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The River Ourthe is a scenic and winding river that flows through the Ardennes in Belgium, crossing the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg. It is a popular spot for outdoor activities like canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The water temperature of the Ourthe River varies significantly with the seasons. During the winter months, the temperature generally hovers between 5°C and 10°C (41°F to 50°F), while in summer, the water can warm up to around 18°C to 22°C (64°F to 72°F). Despite this, the river remains relatively cool throughout the year, especially in the upper parts of the river where the water comes from mountainous areas and springs.
Swimming in the River Ourthe is possible in certain sections, but it is not generally recommended due to the river's cold temperatures and strong currents, particularly after rainfall. Some areas near popular towns such as Durbuy, La Roche-en-Ardenne, and Hotton are more accessible and may provide safer swimming spots, though it’s important to stay cautious about the water quality and flow. While it is an excellent location for canoeing or a scenic walk along the riverbanks, swimming should be reserved for those who are prepared for colder waters and stronger currents.
