Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Lesse is a well-known river in Belgium, flowing through the Ardennes in the province of Namur. It is a popular destination for outdoor activities, especially canoeing and kayaking, due to its scenic beauty and relatively calm waters. The river's water temperature varies throughout the year, with cooler temperatures in winter, generally around 5-7°C (41-45°F), and warmer temperatures in summer, reaching 15-20°C (59-68°F) during peak months. The water is often clear and inviting in the warmer months, but the flow can be swift in certain sections.
Swimming in the Lesse is possible, but not widespread, due to the varying conditions along the river. Some parts of the river have strong currents and are better suited for canoeing or fishing. However, there are several calm stretches, especially around the village of Han-sur-Lesse, where the river slows down and the conditions become more suitable for swimming. The area is famous for the Grottes de Han (Han Caves), which attract many tourists, and in the summer, the river provides a nice place to cool off after a hike or a day of exploring the caves. Swimmers should always be cautious of the river's changing current and ensure they swim in safe, designated areas.
