The Linth River flows through the eastern part of Switzerland, primarily in the canton of Glarus and St. Gallen. It originates in the Alps, specifically from the Linth Glacier, and travels through the Glarus region before emptying into Lake Walen and then further into Lake Zurich via the Linth Canal. The river plays an essential role in regulating the water flow between these lakes. Due to its alpine origin, the Linth's water remains cold year-round. In summer, water temperatures can reach around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), making it quite refreshing but less suitable for swimming.
