** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Kasari River (Kasari jõgi) in western Estonia exhibits pronounced seasonal variation in water temperature. In winter the river is often at or just above freezing, typically close to 0 °C (32 °F) under ice or in open leads and rarely exceeding 2–4 °C (36–39 °F) where ice is absent. During the spring thaw temperatures rise from about 1–10 °C (34–50 °F) as snowmelt and runoff warm the flow. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface temperatures in many stretches ranging from roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) and occasional spots reaching about 22 °C (72 °F) on warm, shallow reaches. In autumn the river cools again to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as air temperatures decline and flow increases.
Swimming in the Kasari is generally possible and not universally prohibited, since most Estonian rivers are public waterways; however, whether it is advisable depends on the location, season and local regulations. Many stretches are shallow and slow-moving and can be suitable for bathing in summer, but currents, submerged vegetation, muddy banks, variable water quality and sections within protected areas such as Matsalu National Park can limit safe or permitted swimming. Visitors should observe local signage, respect conservation rules, and consider water temperature and current before entering the river.
