*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Guadalhorce, which flows through the province of Málaga in Andalusia, shows notable seasonal variation in water temperature depending on location, depth and flow. In winter (December–February) surface temperatures commonly sit around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), rising through spring (March–May) to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). In summer (June–August) warmer, shallower sections can reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), occasionally touching nearer 28 °C (82 °F) in isolated pools, while autumn (September–November) typically cools again to about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). Mountainous headwaters tend to be colder year-round, whereas lowland and slow-moving stretches warm more quickly in sunny weather.
Swimming in the Río Guadalhorce is possible in several upstream and rural spots, but it is not uniformly permitted or advisable along the whole course. Urban stretches, regulated reservoirs, and the protected marshes near the river mouth (a nature reserve) may restrict bathing for safety, water-quality or conservation reasons. After heavy rain the current and turbidity increase, raising risk, and sewage spills or agricultural runoff can affect water quality near populated areas. Visitors and locals commonly swim where signs and local authorities indicate it is allowed and conditions are safe, and they should always heed warnings, check water quality, and avoid strong currents or restricted zones.
