** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Antequera sits inland in Andalusia surrounded by a mix of artificial reservoirs and natural lagoons. Water temperatures in these bodies vary with the seasons: in winter surface waters commonly cool to about 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), spring sees a rise to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), summer can warm reservoirs to around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), and autumn temperatures typically fall back into the 14–22 °C (57–72 °F) band. Natural saline sites such as the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra have more variable and often higher salinity-driven thermal behavior but still follow the same seasonal warming and cooling trend, with surface readings occasionally differing from nearby freshwater bodies.
Swimming opportunities depend on the specific water body and local rules. Some of the reservoirs near Antequera are used recreationally in summer when temperatures are comfortable for bathing, but access and safety conditions vary and signage or municipal rules may limit swimming for safety, water-quality or water-supply reasons. By contrast, the large saline lagoon at Fuente de Piedra is a protected bird reserve and bathing is not allowed both to protect wildlife and because the high salinity and shallow conditions make it unsuitable for safe recreational swimming. Always check local guidance before entering any lake or reservoir.
