Current Water Temperature
Water Temperature in the Glomma River today is 10.6°C.
Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 50°F (10°C) to 54°F (12°C). The water is slightly warmer, but still cool for most people. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but for most people, the time spent in the water should be limited to avoid hypothermia. Even experienced swimmers may feel discomfort if they stay in the water for too long. To improve comfort and safety, a wetsuit can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Glomma, Norway’s longest river, passes through parts of Trøndelag and exhibits marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In winter the river surface is often close to freezing, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where ice or slush may form. Spring melt and runoff raise temperatures but the water generally remains cool, roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F). By summer, surface temperatures in sheltered or shallow sections can reach about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), while deeper, faster stretches stay cooler. During autumn the river usually cools again to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) as air temperatures fall and flows increase.
Swimming in Glomma is possible in many places but not universally recommended without local knowledge and caution. There are no blanket bans across the whole river, so recreational swimming is allowed where shore access, calmer backwaters or designated spots exist, but strong currents, variable depth, boat traffic and regulated discharges from upstream dams can create hazardous conditions. Water quality is generally good in Trøndelag but can vary with runoff and local sources, and ice makes winter swimming unsafe except for organised cold-water bathing with precautions. Anyone choosing to swim should heed local signs, be aware of cold-water shock and currents, and avoid entering the river alone.
