Shelehivske Lake, located in the Sumy Oblast, is one of the oldest and most mysterious reservoirs of Left-Bank Ukraine, boasting a glacial origin. It is surrounded by dense forests and is renowned for its pristine beauty. However, despite the attractive scenery, opportunities for comfortable swimming are quite limited due to specific temperature conditions. The water in the lake, fed by underground springs and featuring significant depths (over 10 meters in some places), remains cool even in the middle of summer. Available information suggests that the water temperature rarely rises above +11 to +15∘C, which is too cold for prolonged mass swimming.
Given the low water temperature, Shelehivske Lake is not a typical beach destination. Instead, it is ideal for ecotourism and wild camping.
