Location & Local Information
Lake Chekha, located near the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, is a well-known recreational spot among locals. This artificial lake has relatively clear water and a gently sloping shoreline, making it suitable for swimming during the warmer months. In summer, the water temperature usually rises to around 22–25°C, occasionally reaching 26°C in July or August. The lake warms up quite quickly in sunny weather due to its moderate depth.
Swimming is most comfortable from late May until early September. The area around the lake offers sandy and grassy sections where visitors can sunbathe or relax, and there are informal swimming spots used by locals. While Chekha is not a large lake, its calm water and proximity to the city make it a convenient place for short swims or evening dips after a hot day.
