Plešné jezero is a glacial lake set high in the Šumava Mountains, and its mountain location greatly influences the water temperature. Even in the middle of summer, the lake remains quite cold, with typical temperatures ranging from 12–16 °C. The depth and elevation prevent it from warming significantly, so bathing here is more of a brisk, refreshing dip rather than a leisurely swim.
