*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Parker Canyon Lake, a high-elevation reservoir situated at 5,400 feet in the Coronado National Forest of southeastern Arizona, experiences a cooler water temperature profile than the desert lakes to the north. Due to its elevation, the water does not heat up excessively. During the peak summer months, surface temperatures generally reach a comfortable range, often peaking in the mid-20s Celsius (low to mid-70s Fahrenheit), which is conducive to swimming. In the late summer and early fall, the water may hold at around 19∘C to 23∘C (66∘F to 73∘F). Conversely, the winter months bring considerable cooling, with temperatures dropping to the range of 11∘C to 14∘C (52∘F to 57∘F).
Swimming is generally permitted and popular in Parker Canyon Lake. The area's management by the U.S. Forest Service encourages low-impact recreation. A key feature that makes it safer for swimming is the 10-horsepower limit on boats, which reduces high-speed traffic and wakes compared to larger reservoirs. While there are no designated swimming beaches or lifeguards, swimmers frequently use areas near the marina or the boat ramp to enter the water. All swimming is at one's own risk, and caution is necessary due to the limited entry points and the presence of seaweed or aquatic vegetation along parts of the shoreline.
