*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Kovalenky, located near the village of Bezliudivka in the Kharkiv region, is a flooded quarry that has become a popular local recreation spot for residents of Kharkiv. It’s relatively shallow in many areas, which allows the water to warm up quite well during summer. In July and August, the surface temperature in the shallows can reach around 22–25 °C, making it comfortable for swimming. In deeper or shaded parts, the water usually stays cooler — closer to 18–20 °C, especially on cloudy days or after rain.
Swimming at Lake Kovalenky is common, particularly in places with a gentle slope and sandy or gravel bottom. These areas are easier and safer to enter, and many locals spend their weekends there. However, swimmers should be cautious — the lake isn’t officially designated as a swimming area everywhere, and water quality can fluctuate, especially after heavy rain or strong winds that stir up sediment. Despite that, on warm, calm days, the lake offers a pleasant and refreshing place to cool off in nature, just a short distance from the city.
