*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Its water temperature stays mild to hot for most of the year, reflecting the region’s desert conditions. During winter, surface temperatures typically range from 55 to 63°F (13–17°C), remaining comfortable for short swims and boating. As spring progresses, the lake warms rapidly, reaching about 70–78°F (21–26°C) by April and May. During summer, Martinez Lake reaches its highest temperatures, with surface waters averaging 84–90°F (29–32°C) in July and August. In autumn, the water gradually cools to around 70–75°F (21–24°C), staying pleasant for outdoor recreation well into October and November.
Swimming is allowed and very popular at Martinez Lake, especially during the long, hot summer season. The lake’s calm backwaters, sandy coves, and scenic setting along the river make it ideal for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The warm water is inviting for extended swims, particularly in the morning and evening when air temperatures are slightly lower. Because the area is also frequented by boaters, swimmers are advised to stay near designated or sheltered zones away from heavy traffic. Overall, Martinez Lake provides excellent swimming conditions nearly year-round thanks to its consistently warm desert waters.
