*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Manitoba, located in the southern part of the province northwest of Winnipeg, is a large and shallow freshwater lake known for its wide beaches and warm summer water. Because of its shallow depth, the lake warms more quickly than nearby Lake Winnipeg. In early spring, after the ice melts in late April or early May, surface temperatures are still cold, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, the lake warms significantly to about 55–63°F (13–17°C). During midsummer, from July through August, surface temperatures often reach 68–75°F (20–24°C), particularly along sheltered southern and eastern shores. In early autumn, as cooler air returns, the temperature gradually drops below 59°F (15°C) by late September.
Swimming in Lake Manitoba is allowed and very popular, especially at destinations like Twin Lakes Beach, Lundar Beach, and St. Ambroise Beach Provincial Park. The lake’s shallow nature and gentle slopes make it ideal for families and recreational swimmers during the summer months. Water clarity can vary depending on wind and weather, but conditions are generally pleasant from late June through early September. While the lake can become cool and windy outside the peak season, in midsummer it offers some of the warmest and most enjoyable freshwater swimming in Manitoba.
