*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Lake Lucerne is a large, fjord-like Alpine lake with deep basins and sheltered bays, which influences its water temperature throughout the year. In winter, surface temperatures typically drop to about 4–6 °C (39–43 °F). During spring, gradual warming brings the lake to around 10–14 °C (50–57 °F). The warmest period is summer, when July and August usually see surface temperatures of about 18–22 °C (64–72 °F), with occasional peaks near 23 °C (73 °F) in sheltered areas. In autumn, the lake cools slowly and often remains above 14 °C (57 °F) well into September.
Swimming in Lake Lucerne is allowed and popular, especially in the quieter bays and designated bathing areas. The water quality is high, and numerous lidos and lakeside access points make swimming safe and convenient. Because of the lake’s depth, it warms more slowly than smaller lakes but also retains heat longer. Summer offers comfortable conditions for most swimmers, while late spring and early autumn are suitable for those accustomed to cooler water.
