** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Konawa, a small reservoir in south-central Oklahoma, experiences pronounced seasonal shifts in surface water temperature. In winter months the lake commonly cools into the mid-30s to mid-40s °F (about 2–7 °C). Spring brings steady warming, with surface readings often rising into the 50s and 60s °F (10–20 °C). Peak summer temperatures can reach the mid-70s to high 80s °F (24–31 °C) on calm, sunny days, and shallow bays may even warm a few degrees higher. In the fall the water typically drops back through the 60s to 50s °F (15–10 °C) as air temperatures cool, with localized variation due to depth, wind and inflow. These ranges are approximate and can vary year to year depending on weather, lake level and time of day.
Swimming at Lake Konawa is generally possible because the reservoir is used for recreation, but there are few, if any, staffed or formally maintained beaches, so recreational swimming is typically at one’s own risk. Some areas near boat ramps, marinas, shorelines or the dam may be posted as restricted for safety reasons, and warm-season conditions sometimes promote algal blooms that can affect water quality. For safety, swimmers should avoid hazardous zones, be mindful of boat traffic and check current local guidance or postings before entering the water.
