*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lac Beauchêne, located in the remote Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of western Quebec near the Ontario border, is a deep, clear freshwater lake surrounded by forest and wildlife. Because of its northern position and the influence of nearby boreal terrain, the water remains cool for much of the year. In early spring, after the ice melts in May, surface temperatures average around 37–43°F (3–6°C). By late May and June, the lake begins to warm to about 50–57°F (10–14°C). During midsummer, from July through August, surface temperatures in shallower coves and bays can reach 63–68°F (17–20°C), while deeper areas stay considerably cooler. As autumn approaches, the water temperature drops again below 55°F (13°C) by late September, returning to near-freezing levels by October.
Swimming in Lac Beauchêne is allowed, though it tends to be more of a cool-water experience than a leisurely one. The lake’s pristine water is exceptionally clear and refreshing, but its depth and northern climate mean it rarely becomes truly warm. Visitors who swim usually do so during July and August, when surface water temperatures are most comfortable. Most people visit Lac Beauchêne for fishing, boating, and nature rather than swimming, yet on calm summer days, a brief dip in its clear, crisp water can be invigorating and enjoyable.
