*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Kipawa, located in the Témiscamingue region of western Quebec, is a large, island-dotted lake known for its clear water, scenic beauty, and peaceful surroundings. Its irregular shoreline and many sheltered bays influence how quickly it warms during the summer. In early spring, after the ice melts in May, the lake remains cold, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, surface temperatures rise gradually to about 52–61°F (11–16°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Lake Kipawa reaches its warmest period, with surface temperatures in protected areas typically between 64–70°F (18–21°C), while deeper open-water sections remain cooler. By late September, as autumn approaches, the water cools again below 55°F (13°C).
Swimming in Lake Kipawa is allowed and can be pleasant during the summer months, especially in the lake’s shallow coves and beaches. The clean, clear water and sheltered inlets make it suitable for swimming, kayaking, and other recreational activities. However, because much of the lake is deep, the water can feel brisk even on warm days. The best time for swimming is from late June through early September, when air temperatures are high and the surface water is comfortable for extended swims. Outside of this period, the lake’s cold temperature limits swimming to brief dips.
