** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Henrys Lake is a high-elevation, spring- and snowmelt-fed lake, so its surface temperatures stay fairly cool through the year. In winter the lake commonly approaches freezing and can be ice-covered, with surface temperatures around 32–40°F (0–4°C). In spring the water warms slowly, often ranging roughly 34–50°F (1–10°C) as runoff and cool inflows persist. Peak surface temperatures on warm summer afternoons typically reach about 55–68°F (13–20°C), though shallow, sun-exposed pockets may be a few degrees warmer and deeper water stays substantially colder. During fall the lake cools back into the 40–55°F (4–13°C) range as air temperatures drop.
Swimming is generally allowed where public shoreline access exists, but it is not a typical warm-water swimming destination because of consistently cold water and frequent wind. The low temperatures increase the risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia, especially if someone is immersed for more than a few minutes, and there are few if any staffed lifeguard areas. Many visitors choose wading, short dips on warm afternoons, or watersports with exposure protection rather than prolonged swimming. As conditions vary with weather and season, swimmers should dress for cold water and use caution near boats and changing weather.
