*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir known locally as Pantano del Tranco sits high in the Sierra de Cazorla and is characterized by clear, mountain-fed water that remains relatively cool year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures are roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in spring, 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in summer, 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) in autumn, and 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in winter. Deeper water is notably colder even in summer because of the reservoir’s depth and limited warming, and mornings and evenings tend to be cooler than mid-afternoon readings.
Swimming opportunities at El Tranco de Beas exist but are subject to local rules and practical considerations. Many visitors swim from coves and informal beaches during the warmer months when surface temperatures are most comfortable, but access around the dam and certain protected or steep sections is restricted for safety and environmental protection. Water quality, signage, and occasional management measures (for nesting birds, fire risk, or dam operations) can also limit swimming at times, so swimmers are advised to follow posted regulations and choose sheltered spots where entry is safe. Overall, summer offers the best conditions for recreational bathing, while spring and autumn are brisk and winter swimming is for the cold-adapted only.
