** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Dellensjöarna (Norrdellen and Sördellen) in Gävleborg County are typical Swedish inland lakes with seasonal surface temperatures that follow the regional climate. During winter the lakes usually freeze and surface water sits at or just below 0 °C (32 °F) under the ice. In spring the water warms from near freezing to around 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as snowmelt and increasing air temperatures raise surface values. Midsummer surface temperatures commonly reach about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warm days, while autumn sees a steady decline back into the 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) range. Note that temperature varies with depth, wind and sunlight; a thermocline can develop in summer so deeper water remains noticeably colder than the surface.
Swimming in the Dellen lakes is generally permitted and used by locals and visitors, supported by public access along much of the shoreline under the Swedish right of public access and by a few maintained bathing spots. People swim in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, but caution is advised because colder layers, sudden drop-offs and variable weather can increase risk of hypothermia; exposure time should be limited below roughly 15 °C (59 °F). As with any natural water, swimmers should heed local signage and water quality notices, especially during warm calm periods when algal blooms can occur.
