*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Černé jezero, the largest and deepest glacial lake in the Czech Republic, is located in the Šumava National Park near the border with Germany. Due to its high elevation and depth, the water remains very cold even during summer, generally ranging from 8–12 °C. This makes swimming quite challenging for most visitors, and the lake is primarily visited for its scenic beauty rather than recreational bathing. Even brief dips can feel invigorating but are usually only attempted by those accustomed to cold water.
The lake is surrounded by steep, forested slopes and natural rocky shores, with no designated swimming areas or lifeguards. Access to the water is limited, and caution is necessary due to uneven terrain and the cold temperatures. Shallow edges are scarce, so most visitors experience the lake visually or by walking along the trails rather than entering the water.
Černé jezero is far more popular for hiking, nature photography, and enjoying the dramatic scenery of the Šumava mountains. Its pristine environment, combined with the striking contrast of dark waters against surrounding forests, makes it a remarkable destination for nature lovers. Swimming is minimal and typically reserved for short, adventurous dips, while the lake’s main appeal lies in its tranquil and picturesque setting.
