*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Donetsk is situated on the banks of the Kalmius River, which flows through the city from north to south before heading toward the Sea of Azov. In the Donetsk area, the Kalmius is relatively calm, with moderate depth and a series of small reservoirs that help stabilize the water temperature. During the summer months, the river’s water typically warms up to 23–27°C, and in particularly hot weather can reach 28°C or more. These conditions make the river pleasant for light swimming in natural spots, especially along its quieter and greener sections outside the dense urban zone.
Although swimming directly in the central parts of the Kalmius is not always recommended due to water quality fluctuations, locals often visit nearby recreation areas and small lakes connected to the river system for bathing and relaxation. In summer, the riverbanks become popular spots for fishing, picnicking, and spending time by the water. Warm water temperatures and slow currents make the Kalmius an inviting but modest option for recreation in the Donetsk region.
