** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Çarşamba, a district in Samsun province on Turkey’s northern Black Sea coast, contains small inland lakes and wetlands whose surface temperatures vary by season. In winter months, lake water typically falls to about 2–6 °C (36–43 °F). Spring brings gradual warming, with surface temperatures commonly in the 8–15 °C range (46–59 °F) depending on sunshine and runoff. By midsummer, shallow lakes and ponds can reach roughly 20–24 °C (68–75 °F) on warm days, while autumn sees a return toward 8–12 °C (46–54 °F) as air temperatures drop and precipitation increases. These ranges are broad estimates reflecting the temperate, maritime-influenced climate of the region and the variable depth and shading of local water bodies.
Swimming in Çarşamba’s lakes is seasonally possible when surface temperatures are highest, generally in July and August, but opportunities are limited by factors beyond temperature. Many lakes and ponds are not designated bathing sites and lack lifeguards, facilities or regular water-quality monitoring; agricultural runoff, vegetation and variable depth can make some areas unsafe or undesirable for swimming. Local authorities may restrict access in sensitive wetland areas to protect wildlife or public safety, so swimmers should look for officially maintained beaches or municipal guidance before entering the water.
