** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Çankırı (in Turkish: Çankırı) is an inland Anatolian province where the dominant water bodies are rivers, mountain-fed streams and a few small lakes and reservoirs rather than coastline. Because of the continental climate and the influence of the Ilgaz Mountains, water temperatures vary strongly by season and by type of watercourse. Typical summer surface temperatures in slow-moving lakes and reservoirs commonly reach about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), while smaller or deeper lakes may be a few degrees cooler. Mountain streams and faster rivers remain markedly colder: summer temperatures often range from roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). In spring and autumn lakes and reservoirs generally sit in a 5–16 °C (41–61 °F) range, whereas rivers and streams tend to be 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). Winter water temperatures in most local rivers and lakes fall close to freezing, roughly 0–5 °C (32–41 °F).
Swimming is possible in Çankırı during the warmest months in calm reservoirs or slow river sections where local authorities permit bathing, but many water bodies are not designated or equipped as official swimming sites. Reasons include strong currents, sudden depth changes, cold mountain-fed water even in summer, variable water quality and rules around reservoirs used for irrigation or drinking water. For safety and legality, swimmers should follow posted signs and local guidance before entering any lake or river.
