*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kastamonu (in Turkish - Kastamonu) is a province with a mix of mountain-fed rivers and small lakes whose temperatures vary markedly by season and by waterbody. In winter surface temperatures in rivers and shallow lakes commonly approach freezing, about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F). During spring thaw values rise to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) but can remain cool in fast-flowing streams. In summer isolated lakes and slow-moving sections may warm to 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), while mountain rivers and shaded channels typically stay cooler, around 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). Autumn brings a steady decline, with many waters ranging from 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) before winter cooling sets in.
Swimming in Kastamonu’s inland waters is possible in summer where access and conditions permit, but it is not universally recommended or formally organized in many locations. Designated bathing areas are limited, and river swimming can be hazardous because of cold pockets, swift currents, submerged obstacles and variable water quality after rains. For safety and comfort, locals and visitors usually choose sheltered lake spots during warm months, checking for local guidance and avoiding unmarked river sections; the seasonal temperature ranges and safety considerations largely determine whether swimming is advisable.
