*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Trängslet Dam (often called Trängslet) in Dalarna County forms a large reservoir with clear, cold water typical of central Swedish hydro lakes. Surface temperatures vary strongly with the seasons: in spring (March–May) the water commonly sits between about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as it warms up, while summer (June–August) surface temperatures are usually in the 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) band, sometimes reaching around 21–22 °C (70–72 °F) in warm spells. In autumn (September–November) temperatures generally fall to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F). During winter the reservoir often approaches freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and parts of the lake may be ice-covered for several months.
Swimming in the reservoir is possible in many places but not without caution. There are no universal bans on swimming in Swedish reservoirs, but areas immediately adjacent to dam structures, intakes or operational zones are typically restricted for safety reasons; water levels and currents can change suddenly because of hydroelectric operations. The water can be deceptively cold below the surface and in deeper sections, so cold-water shock and hypothermia are real risks. If swimming, choose sheltered bays or established bathing spots, check local signage, and take safety measures such as a companion, flotation aid and awareness of boat traffic and fluctuating water levels.
