Mora sits on the shores of Lake Siljan in Dalarna County, and lake water temperatures follow a clear seasonal pattern typical for central Sweden. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures are commonly around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the lake cools from winter and slowly warms. Early summer and June often see 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while peak summer in July–August can bring surface water up to roughly 17–22 °C (63–72 °F) on warm, sunny days.
