*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Skövde (Swedish: Skövde) in Västra Götaland County sits among inland lakes and small rivers where water temperatures follow the temperate Swedish pattern. In spring (April–May) surface waters are typically about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and cool air dominate. The main swimming season is in summer (June–August) when many lakes and sheltered bays warm to roughly 15–23 °C (59–73 °F), and shallow, sun-exposed spots can briefly reach 24–25 °C (75–77 °F) during heatwaves. In autumn (September–October) temperatures usually fall to around 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). In winter most lakes and slow rivers approach 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and frequently freeze over.
Swimming in Skövde’s lakes and rivers is generally allowed: public access to shorelines is supported by Sweden’s allemansrätt and the municipality maintains designated bathing areas that are monitored for water quality in summer. Caution is advised because currents in rivers can make swimming unsafe and deeper or shaded waters remain much colder than shallow bays, increasing risk of cold shock. Local signage, municipal bathing information and common-sense precautions — swimming with others, avoiding strong currents and checking for recent water-quality notices — help determine where and when it is prudent to swim.
