** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lipova, in western Romania, is known for a few small lakes and flooded gravel pits near the town that follow the Mureș river corridor. Water temperature in these bodies varies by season: in spring it typically ranges from about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as the water warms after thaw; in summer shallow areas commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) and can peak on hot spells; in autumn temperatures fall back to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F); and in winter lakes often sit near freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where ice can form. Shallow waters warm and cool faster than deeper basins, so shoreline readings are usually at the warmer end of these ranges in summer.
Swimming is generally permitted in the warm months in designated spots and is popular when surface temperatures exceed about 20 °C (68 °F), but access depends on local rules and water-quality conditions. Authorities or landowners may restrict bathing because of pollution, cyanobacteria blooms, underwater hazards, or safety considerations (no lifeguards, strong currents, or sudden depth changes). Swimming in spring or autumn when water is cool carries increased risk of cold shock, and winter swimming is typically unsafe except in controlled, supervised events. Visitors should check posted signs and local guidance before entering the water.
