** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ferrara sits in the Po Valley close to the Po Delta and the lagoonal systems around Comacchio rather than beside a single large freshwater lake. Water temperatures in these nearby lakes, lagoons and river branches follow a marked seasonal rhythm: winter surface temperatures typically range from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), spring warms to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), summer commonly sees 22–28 °C (72–82 °F) with shallow basins occasionally reaching 28–30 °C (82–86 °F) in heat spells, and autumn cools back to around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Variability is influenced by depth, salinity in the lagoon areas and weather patterns, so conditions can change rapidly after storms or prolonged heat.
Swimming is possible in and around Ferrara but only in designated and monitored spots; many coastal lidos on the Adriatic shore of the province permit bathing with lifeguards and regular water-quality checks, while some inland lakes and wetland reserves restrict access. Restrictions exist to protect sensitive habitats and bird nesting areas, and because water quality can deteriorate after heavy rains due to agricultural runoff or limited circulation in reed-filled basins. Visitors should therefore use official beaches and follow local signage and advisories to ensure safety and compliance with conservation rules.
