*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Arta sits on the Arachthos River close to the sheltered Ambracian (Amvrakikos) Gulf and several small reservoirs and wetlands. Surface water temperatures in these inland and coastal waters follow a clear seasonal pattern: in winter waters commonly range from about 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), in spring they warm to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), in summer surface temperatures typically reach about 22–26 °C (72–79 °F), and in autumn they fall back toward 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). Exact values vary with the specific site — shallow lagoons and sheltered bays warm faster than deeper reservoirs or flowing river channels — and from year to year depending on weather.
Swimming is possible and practiced in many places around Arta, especially in the Ambracian Gulf and popular river spots during the warm months, when temperatures are comfortable for bathing. However, not every body of water is open to swimmers: some reservoirs and managed water sources may prohibit bathing for safety, water-management or drinking-water protection reasons, and certain wetland areas are environmentally protected. Visitors should follow local signs and guidance, be mindful of currents in river channels, and consider water quality reports before entering the water.
