*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wuppertal is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, located on the banks of the Wupper River. The river runs through the heart of the city, giving it its name. The temperature of the water in the Wupper River is subject to the typical seasons of this region. During the colder months, from November to March, the water temperature can fall below 5 °C (41 °F), making it quite frigid and unsuitable for swimming. As the seasons warm, from May to September, it's possible for the water temperature to rise upwards of 15 to 20 ºC (59 to 68 ºF), depending on the environmental conditions such as the air temperature, amount of rainfall, and the sunlight the river receives.
While warmer water temperatures during the summer months may make swimming seem possible, there are other factors to consider. Though the Wupper River is indeed a significant feature of Wuppertal, it is not typically used for recreational swimming. This is majorly due to a history of pollution from industrial waste and sewer runoff. However, clean-up efforts in recent years have improved the water quality, enough so to allow some flora and fauna to thrive. Swimming in certain parts of the river may also be discouraged or even prohibited for safety reasons, such as the risk of strong currents and the presence of hazardous objects in the water. Therefore, despite warmer water temperatures, swimming in the river might not be advisable or even legal. Please check local restrictions or guidelines before considering any activities in the Wupper River.
